It's been a good time to be a fan of the Nicolas Hammond Spider-man series lately.
We've had 3 official toy releases (POP from Funko, Marvel Legends from Hasbro and Hot Toys) - more mainstream coverage, and the fantastic art series in book form by Russ Braun (click the link).
Add to this now Adrian Sherlock's new book that takes a look back at the series and it's place in TV and pop culture.
Adrian is clearly a fan, and that love is evident in every page - balanced with a critical, but fair, eye on the series shortcomings but also on its strengths. This is far from his first book on pop culture as Adrian has written many others that focus on Doctor Who, Blakes 7 and V - just to name a few.
Running at around 120 pages it is a great read that fans will enjoy and others will learn from. Key players - writers, producers and cast - are mentioned in depth, making this a testiment to those who brought the series to our TV screens from 1977 to 1979 (and our cinema screens beyond that!). Each episode is also explored in depth - looking at the themes within and how they were relevant to audiences in the late 70's.
While there may not be any revelations for ardent fans like myself and some of you reading, it is still a great book to sit down with...and why wouldn't you want to read about the show any opportunity you get!
The most eye-catching aspect of the book is the cover - it looks stunning on my shelf! I highly recommend the hardcover.
You can purchase the book in 3 formats - kindle, hardcover and softcover.

You really can judge a book by it's cover - 8/10
